When Licensing, I get an Error # 69

ISSUE:

I am trying to License my PDF-eXPLODE. I select option Activate online and when I enter the License ID and password and click OK, I do get a message that says license is successful. However, a few seconds later I get "Error #69 occurred - please contact Technical Support", as seen in the image below. Can you explain why I get a success message, then followed by an error. And what is error 69 and how do I fix it?

ANSWER:

What is error 69 and how does it occur?

The User whose licensing screen image is shown above actually purchased a Desktop license and the License ID would only be compatible with a Desktop pdfexplode.lf (License file) found in the root folder of the install folder. However, in this case, the User has incorrectly used a Server /10 User installer which would install a pdfexplode.lf file compatible a license ID only suitable with a Server /10 User installer. Error 69 indicates that the pdfexplode.lf is incorrect.

How do I fix it?

To resolve this, send an email to support@3000ad.com.au requesting a Desktop version of pdfexplode.lf and once received, replace the existing pdfexplode.lf in the root of the install folder (example: C:\PDF-EXPLODE) with the new one received.

Why did you first get a "Licensed successfully" message prior to the error 69?

When you first enter your License ID and Activation password and click OK, the program make contact with the US based Licensing Portal. This link will validate the License ID and password entered onscreen and make a note that the license has been activated. Once that is done, the program will verify locally whether the License ID matches the PDF-eXPLODE version purchased. At this point it compares the License ID with the pdfexplode.lf and the error 69 will occur if (for instance) the Desktop License ID purchased is trying to be updated into a different version of the software.
