The ’Open With’ PDF-eXPLODE context menu does not appear in the Windows right click menu

ISSUE:

I have installed and reinstalled PDF-eXPLODE to try to fix the missing menu item when I right click on any PDF file in Windows Explorer and select Open With.  How can I fix this?

This is what my Right click shows:

ANSWER:

The Open With  command on the right click was created by the Installer and more than likely, the checkbox may have inadvertenly got unchecked. Hence it is not in the registry and not on the Open With menu. But you can easily create by following my instructions.

  • Save the following lines of code in a Notepad TXT file as TXT in this path C:\PDF-EXPLODE\REG\ OpenWithPDFeXPLODE.TXT
  • Now copy and paste the following lines of code into the OpenWithPDFeXPLODE.TXT

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\PDF-eXPLODE.exe\shell\open\command]

@="\"C:\\PDF-eXPLODE\\PDF-eXPLODE.exe\" -Printfile\"%1\""

  •  Rename this file to OpenWithPDFeXPLODE.REG
  • You need IT Local/Domain Admin Rights – Double click the Reg file and it will prompt a warning file

  • Click Yes – you should get a success message!
  • Now right click a PDF with a Tag in it.
  • This is what you will see.

  • If you select PDF-eXPLODE, it will explode and email.

 NOTE:

Please note the double “\” is correct in the path.

For example if your path is

D:\Program Files(x86)\PDF-Explode then replace the text as follows

 @= ”\”D:\\Program Files(x86)\\PDF-eXPLODE.exe\” –Printfile\”%1\”
