I cannot send emails from PDF-eXPLODE despite getting a success message when running a ’Test Connection’.

ISSUE:

I click the TEST Connection button and I get a screen message saying "Your Mail Connection appears to be OK.  Please check your e-mail to ensure you received the Test e-mail sent." However, I never received any e-mail and when processing through PDF-eXPLODE I don't receive any emails either. On checking the PDF-eXPLODE.log, I see the following error that must be the reason for non-delivery of my test email.

Error #: 429 occurred - ActiveX component can't create object

I tried your suggested solution (in another article) about registering the ChilkatMail2.dll email engine manually, in addition to reinstalling PDF-eXPLODE as well,  all to no avail.  When I tried to register the DLL file manually I got an error.   When I tried to reinstall PDF-eXPLODE, I got the following error

What can I do?

ANSWER:

This error around registering may be caused by some missing Visual Studio 2008 files. These files are supporting files and are assumed to be present in your version of Windows, when the installation is processed.  As a result of some missing supporting files, you will need to download from Microsoft, the following free Visual Studio 2008 installer and install it first.

  1.  Please download and install the Visual Studio 2008 run-time files from this Microsoft site  https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29  Once installed, please try to register the ChilkatMail2.dll (in system32 ) as follows:
  2. To re-register the email engine file (called ChilkatMail2.dll) found in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 (32 Bit) or C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOWO64 (64 Bit PC)) select Start Menu and in the Search Search magnifying glass image field line (Win 7/8/10 or Win 2008/2010)   or Run  (Win 2003/XP) type the following:

Regsvr32  “C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CHILKATMAIL2.DLL”           if a 32 Bit PC

OR

Regsvr32  “C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW64\CHILKATMAIL2.DLL”        if a 64 Bit PC

You should get a “success” message as below:

  1. Subject to getting the success message as above, then do the TEST CONNECTION again and verify if the email is received OR It is possible you may have to reinstall PDF-eXPLODE before the problem will rectify.
